Deep Impact Could Have Big Impact on Space Development

Wednesday afternoon, NASA’s Deep Impact mission lifted off successfully on a Boeing Delta 2 rocket, beginning a 6-month journey to Comet Tempel 1. After initial concerns raised by the craft’s entry into safe mode shortly after separation from the launch vehicle, NASA reported later in the day that all systems appeared to be operating normally.
